Locko Park in Derby saw all shape and size of dogs (and owners) taking part on Saturday 12th May and thankfully, despite the muddy obstacles, the day stayed dry with nearly £60,000 in total being raised as the event started, hopefully more since.
“It had been a few years since I’d done any fundraising, but was tempted by this charity, as every cat or dog deserves a chance – and who can resist the little cute faces?! Having not ran at all for nearly 10 years, I really didn’t know how the day would go, but with Obi tethered to me via a running belt we were off, however he had a much faster running pace than me which was interesting to say the least. How I never ended up flat on face is nothing short of a miracle.’
After the water and mud obstacles the race was over, no records set, but good fun had by all, however, more was yet to come, as Obi had been stung on his face en-route and we ended up with an emergency vets bill to finish the day!
“The day didn’t really end as well as it had started, but the most important thing was we raised some vital funds for such a good cause – and it’s given me the fund raising bug again – watch this space.’
