With the opportunity to explore the state-of-the-art facilities and speak to staff and students, the Higher Education Open Event will take place on Wednesday, May 13, at the College’s Hinckley campus in Lower Bond Street, from 5pm to 7pm.
Prospective students will hear about NWSLC’s flexible pathway of one-year, degree-level courses that are designed for step-by-step progress and enable learning to be shaped around individual goals.
For those living in the area, NWSLC – which is rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted – is a local, accessible higher education provider, allowing students to remain living at home while they study. Opting to study at NWSLC also means students benefit from small class sizes.
Course themes include business, children and education, construction, creative media, computing and digital, creative art and design, engineering, health and social studies, Higher Technical Qualifications, performing arts, makeup and hair artistry, public services and sports.
Tutors will be on hand during the Open Event to offer personalised advice about next steps and guidance on student finance and what support is available. For those who are keen to get the ball rolling with their next steps, there will also be the opportunity to apply for a place.
Marion Plant, OBE FCGI, Principal and Chief Executive at NWSLC, said: “Our Higher Education Open Event attracts learners of all ages and backgrounds who are keen to explore the degree-level options we offer, and find out more about how we support those looking to upskill or further develop their learning.
“An emphasis on employer-focussed training, coupled with NWSLC’s supportive and inclusive learning environment, means that students thrive during their time with us and leave equipped with the skills and experience to help them further their careers.
“We encourage anyone who is considering degree-level study to come along to our Higher Education Open Event and speak to tutors and current students about what studying at a higher level is really like.”
Carrie-Anne Abdulai, Vice Principal Higher Education and Adult Programmes, added: “This event will showcase how you can stay local, study flexibly, and progress your skills with degree‑level qualifications right here at NWSLC.
“You’ll hear about our flexible study options and how your studies can fit around your lifestyle and work commitments. For those who are not quite ready for degree study, our Access to Higher Education courses provide the perfect stepping stone to get you prepared and confident.
“Whether you’re planning your next step, considering a new career, or simply exploring your options, our Open Event will offer practical, comprehensive guidance.”
