The NWSLC Creative Arts and Media Showcase held from Monday 15 June included an inspirational fashion show that captured the energy of the college’s 2026 cohort perfectly, whose achievements include tattoo apprenticeships and top awards.
Special guests including the Mayor of Oadby, Cllr Jasvir Chohan, and Consort Kuldip Chohan, the Mayor of Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council, Cllr Richard Flemming and Consort Jill Flemming, were present to witness the colourful fashion show.
The event shone a spotlight on the talents of the learners across courses from level 1 to Level 6 in areas including art, design, music, journalism, performing arts, photography, games design and theatrical makeup.
On Wednesday, 17 June, Marion Plant OBE, CEO and principal of NWSLC, addressed the fashion show audience, she said: “Arriving this evening, you will have been given a taster of what our incredibly talented students are capable of, with a wealth of creative work on display.
“This exhibition, which has been months in the making, showcases just what our students are capable of, and spans numerous creative disciplines. We’d like to take this opportunity to extend our thanks to all the local businesses which have supported our students’ endeavours.”
In 2026 NWSLC students have excelled in competitive environments, including a Silver in the Inter-College Creative Skills Showcase 2026: Culture & Community competition, representing outstanding achievement in Graphic Design.
Students have also worked on a wide range of live briefs and industry-led projects, developing professional skills and real-world experience resulting in two Level 3 Art and Design students securing highly sought-after tattoo apprenticeships.
These include designing branding for an external wellbeing company, creating promotional campaigns supporting maths and English resits, producing attendance campaigns and contributing creative work to the Art in the Town initiative.
The students have also been involved in the Student Creative Showcase at the Atkins, alongside contributions from staff in the Staff Creative Showcase, highlighting the strength of creativity across the whole college community.
James Stanley, Head of Creative Industries at North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College, said: “The Fully Loaded showcase captures the energy of this year’s cohort perfectly. Every artwork, performance and developed piece represents months of experimentation, risk-taking and hard work. This exhibition celebrates not just finished outcomes, but the creative journeys that students have taken.”
