Merson, who made 21 appearances for England in the 90s, will be on Lawton Tubes’ 48-square-metre stand providing expert commentary for their penalty shootout challenge during the show.
The penalty shootout experience will test visitors’ accuracy under pressure, with penalty takers needing to aim for five different targets to compete for a place at the top of the leaderboard to win a range of prizes – including a LEGO FIFA World Cup trophy.
Lawton Tubes are also supporting the show’s FUTURES initiative, which aims to help young installers make valuable connections and kick start their careers in the sector.
Lawton Tubes Director, Robert Lawton, will also be meeting aspiring plumbers, heating and air conditioning engineers who are visiting the show to explore career opportunities at a time when approximately one million construction workers are needed by 2032, according to the 2023 UK Trade Skills Index.
Michael Brown, Chairman at Lawton Tubes said: “We’re hoping the only ‘extra time’ we’ll have to go through this summer is with visitors having a go at our penalty shootout challenge or learning from our copper pressing demonstrations.
“We’ll also have our digital media wall there encompassing our new website and YouTube channel showcasing practical ‘how to’ videos for those in the plumbing, heating and air conditioning trades.
“Events such as InstallerSHOW are incredibly important – not just commercially, but for the long-term health of the industry too where we can debate issues, which is why we are especially proud to be supporting FUTURES and championing trade careers.
“It’s great to have Paul Merson supporting us and we’re really looking forward to exhibiting at InstallerSHOW once again.”
Lawton Tubes is a fourth-generation family business supplying copper into some of the UK’s biggest projects, with an annual turnover of £230 million, and a 150-strong workforce.
