Kavita Bansal, 20, joined Nuneaton-based Independent Freight Solutions (IFS) in May 2024 as a Sales and Quotes Apprentice with no background in logistics. IFS Managing Director Jenny Hooper recently presented Kavita with her certificate, marking the culmination of almost two years of study and on-the-job training.
Kavita said the industry exceeded her expectations from the start.
"I came in thinking it was about moving things from A to B, but every shipment is different — different countries, rules, and client needs. I've also picked up life skills like time management, confidence speaking to people, and how to conduct myself professionally. I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I do."
Kavita will remain at IFS, a decision she says was straightforward.
"The team has been so supportive and I've built up a lot of knowledge over the past two years. I cannot wait to continue my journey with IFS and increase my knowledge even more."
Jenny Hooper, Managing Director, said: "Kavita arrived with no freight experience, but she brought the right attitude — curiosity, enthusiasm, and a real willingness to learn. To see her achieve a Distinction is incredibly rewarding. She is a brilliant example of what is possible when a young person backs themselves and a business backs them in return."
IFS was recently recognised as Workforce Developer of the Year at the Coventry and Warwickshire Business and Community Awards 2025.
