The Dorothea Unit provides specialist oncology and haematology day care to hundreds of local patients every single week. For many, it becomes a familiar and supportive environment during what can be one of the most challenging periods of their lives.
Patients attend regularly for chemotherapy and blood-related treatments, often spending several hours at a time receiving care. During these long sessions, comfort is not a luxury, it is essential.
Our goal is simple but powerful: to replace the specialist reclining treatment chairs used on the unit. These chairs are carefully designed to provide maximum support and comfort during lengthy procedures. Over time, with constant daily use, they need replacing to ensure patients continue to receive treatment in a comfortable setting.
By supporting our 30 for 30 Campaign, you will be directly improving the experience of local people undergoing cancer and blood disorder treatments. Your fundraising will help create a more comfortable environment, reduce physical strain during long appointments and make a real, tangible difference to patients when they need it most.
We have an exciting calendar of events planned throughout our anniversary year - and we would love you to get involved.
Why not take to the skies with a Skydive on 17th May, push your limits at Tough Mudder on 4th & 5th July, bounce your way around the Coventry Inflatable Course (5k) on 25th July, or take on the adventure of a
lifetime with the Mount Toubkal Trek from 2nd–6th September?
Whether you’re seeking adrenaline, endurance or an unforgettable overseas challenge, there’s something for everyone.
All funds raised through these events will support our 30 for 30 Campaign and help us reach our £30,000 target.
Not quite your thing? That’s absolutely fine. You can choose your own challenge - from marathons and bake sales to cycling events, sponsored swims or community activities. Whatever you decide, our dedicated charity team will be there to support you every step of the way with fundraising advice, materials and encouragement.
This is more than just a fundraising campaign. It’s an opportunity for our community to come together and show support for local patients and families. Every pound raised stays local, helping to enhance care right here at our hospital.
For 30 years, George Eliot Hospital Charity has supported projects that go above and beyond NHS funding - improving patient comfort, wellbeing and clinical environments. As we look ahead to the future, we hope you will help us continue that legacy.
