‘Juicy stories’ on offer at Warwickshire venue

Businesspeople from across the region were promised some ‘juicy stories’ at a networking event in Warwick.

Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce hosted an event at Market Hall Museum in Warwick, in partnership with Heritage & Culture Warwickshire, which was attended by around 60 local people representing a range of businesses and organisations.

It was a chance to meet and network, and to also hear about the Warwick Castle Unboxed exhibition currently on display at the museum.

It tells over 300 years of history inspired by the Greville Family collection, held at Warwickshire County Record Office.

Warwick Castle Unboxed: New stories from an old castle is the culmination of a four-year project, and begins with Fulke Greville asking King James I for Warwick Castle, over 300 years ago.

The exhibition features stories about the Greville family, courting scandal in Regency society and even managing ambulance trains in World War I.

Emma Andrews, service manager at Heritage and Culture Warwickshire, said: “It is a really interesting collection, full of fascinating people and lots of juicy stories.

“It tells the story of the Greville family of Warwick Castle and is an internationally significant collection held on behalf of everyone in the county.

“Visitors are encouraged to explore the exhibition and discover the stories behind one of Warwickshire’s most important historic collections.”

She added: “Market Hall Museum may be small, but it offers a glimpse into a much larger collection of around 900,000 objects cared for on behalf of the county.”

Chris Nagle, head of events, marketing and communications at Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce, said: “It was great to bring so many people together and you could see lots of positive conversations taking place and hopefully that will lead to more business and trade in Coventry and Warwickshire.

“Our region is rich in history and heritage and it was fascinating to see and hear about the exhibition too because everyone loves a juicy story from history – especially when the events took place on our doorstep!”
