With demand growing from businesses keen to take sustainability seriously, but unsure where to start, Wylde Connections worked with Business Ready - a business support programme run by the University of Warwick Science Park on behalf of Warwickshire County Council - to create Enveglas, a diagnostic tool designed to dramatically speed up the ESG assessment process.
Developed in collaboration with Mark Wisniewski, business adviser at Business Ready, Enveglas quickly analyses a company’s sustainability position and allows Wylde Connections to offer clear, practical insights.
The tool has now become a central part of Wylde’s offer and has helped position the consultancy for its next phase of growth.
Its potential meant Wylde Connections secured an ERDF Focus Digital grant to further develop Enveglas to include value-chain mapping, allowing businesses to better understand sustainability impacts beyond their own operations.
The funding will enable the business to bring more advanced solutions to its clients and has also helped the consultancy get selected for the Innovate UK Scale Up Programme.
Denise Taylor, co-founder of Wylde Connections, said: “We could see that so many SMEs wanted to do the right thing when it came to sustainability, but the process felt overwhelming and out of reach for them.
“Working with Business Ready gave us the clarity and confidence to turn Enveglas into something that is genuinely useful and accessible, not just another complex framework.
“Mark really understood what we were trying to achieve and helped us think not just about building the tool, but about how we would take it to market and make sure it delivered real value. That support has been instrumental in getting us to where we are now and in giving us the belief that we can scale this nationally.”
Looking ahead, Wylde is also exploring the introduction of AI, AR and VR technologies to add further depth to its insights and help businesses visualise and engage with their sustainability data in new ways, reinforcing its ambition to support SMEs across the country on their ESG journeys.
Mark Wisniewski, business adviser at Business Ready, said: “Working with Wylde Connections and Denise has been a genuinely rewarding experience. Through Business Ready, we’ve been able to support Denise and her team in turning Enveglas from a strong concept into a clearer, more commercially robust platform.
“Beyond product development, we’ve also been able to use the Business Ready network to introduce Wylde to potential clients, strategic partners and collaborators. We’ve helped bring about conversations that might otherwise have taken months to initiate. For an early-stage platform like Enveglas, these introductions are invaluable.
“Denise brings vision and commitment to solving a real-world problem. Our role has been to provide strategic challenge, technical insight, and structured development support, ensuring that the platform is not only well built, but commercially viable and positioned for sustainable growth.”
Mark Ryder, Executive Director for Communities at Warwickshire County Council, said: “The dedicated support from Business Ready has helped Wylde Connections to turn their concept into a marketable tool that supports their goal of growth and efficiency.
“The tailored support from the programme not only supported their technical development but also supported Wylde Connections’ strategic plans and helped them to identify areas for growth and funding opportunities to support this.”
Joanne Randall, Strategic Economic Development Officer for Warwick District Council said: “From the District Council’s perspective, it is extremely rewarding to see a local business evolving and thriving thanks to their participation in the Business Ready Programme, particularly within the green and renewable industry sector.
“We would strongly encourage other companies wanting to explore new markets or opportunities to follow Wylde Connections’ lead and visit the Business Ready website to find out about the specialist support that is available to them.”
