The project involves supporting residents to improve their skills, access support around the NHS app, and get access to devices and connectivity.
19 Hillfields residents have gone on to start Adult Community Learning or Adult Skills Funded accredited learning.
The project continues until the end of July 2026.
WATCH is part of the National Databank – offering free SIM cards loaded with texts, minutes and data, as well as devices for those in need in Hillfields. The centre has twice weekly drop-ins on a Tuesday and Friday morning.
In addition to this, WATCH hosts the city council’s #CovConnects team who facilitate a digital drop-in session, giving people practical help and support.
WATCH’s CEO, Nadia Taghi, said: “Many local residents need help to become confident in English, gain volunteering experience, seek employment, integrate with the community, or further their own business ambitions.”
“One of our clients, originally from Sudan, needed access to a laptop to help her complete level 3 in Fashion and Design at community college. We also helped her create a new CV and put her in touch with the city council’s Job Shop.”
