A Focus On Practice Over Theory
The session centred on a practical negotiation role play, with members taking turns to negotiate and observe. What stood out was the energy … participants were clearly comfortable testing ideas, making mistakes, and reflecting openly on what they noticed.
The observer role prompted thoughtful discussion about timing, language, and how easily negotiations can shift based on small behavioural changes.
Lesson; The Power By Slowing Down
One particularly strong learning moment came from watching how different members handled pressure after making a proposal. Those who slowed the conversation down, using a pause or a simple clarifying question, often created more constructive dialogue than those who rushed to respond. Seeing this play out live helped turn an abstract idea into a tangible, shared experience.
International Members!
There was also a real sense of excitement around the diversity of the group. Although the Club is rooted in Warwick, members now span the globe, including participants joining from as far afield as China. Practising with people from different cultures, languages, and negotiation styles has quickly become one of the most valued aspects of the meetings, helping members build confidence and adaptability in a genuinely international setting.
As a relatively new club, the enthusiasm and engagement shown at this latest meeting reflected how much members are already gaining from practising together and learning through shared experience.
