A foodbank in Stratford-upon-Avon has been given a festive funding boost thanks to a local hotel.

Stratford-upon-Avon Foodbank, based at The Fred Winter Centre on Guild Street, has received a £400 donation from The Arden Hotel.

The local foodbank has handed out more than 4500 food parcels so far this year, with over 35 per cent of these going to children.

Isla Stroyan, from Stratford-upon-Avon Foodbank, said: “We are so thankful that The Arden Hotel has supported our work again this year. With our Christmas goodie bags, we expect to feed around 2000 people this Christmas, and so every donation we receive makes a real difference to families in our town.”

The Arden Hotel made the gesture after donating £10 from each hotel room sale from its Christmas package.

Sai Nathan, General Manager at The Arden Hotel, added: “We are aware of the important role that Stratford-upon-Avon Foodbank plays in supporting those in our local community, and as Christmas is often a time when support services such as foodbanks see a spike in demand, we wanted to do our bit to help them fund additional items.”
