It follows a string of accolades at the regional awards last year, including two Golds for International Tourism and Accessible & Inclusive Tourism alongside Silver for Small Visitor Attraction of the Year, before going on to achieve Bronze in the International Tourism category at the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2025.
The venue will now have the opportunity to vie for the national title against other iconic destinations across the country at the VisitEngland Awards.
Abi Moore, heritage and venue manager at No Ordinary Hospitality, which operates St Mary’s Guildhall, said the accolade was a fantastic recognition of the dedication shown by the Guildhall team.
She said: “This award is a wonderful achievement for everyone involved with St Mary’s Guildhall. Our team works incredibly hard to bring the Guildhall’s remarkable history to life and ensure it is welcoming, accessible and inspiring for every visitor.
“To receive this recognition among so many outstanding attractions across the West Midlands is something we are incredibly proud of. It reflects the passion of our staff and partners, and the continued support from visitors who make the Guildhall such a special place.
“We’re now looking ahead to one of our busiest periods of the year with families joining us over the Easter break for a host of unique and affordable history-inspired experiences – and are urging anyone across the Midlands who hasn’t visited us since our reopening three and a half years ago to come and join us in one of Coventry’s most impressive and best loved attractions.”
Cllr Jim O’Boyle cabinet member for jobs, regeneration and climate change at Coventry City Council, said, “This is a fantastic achievement for St Mary’s Guildhall, and the team should be incredibly proud. Winning Gold shines a spotlight on the Guildhall as a must‑visit attraction for anyone coming to Coventry, and it helps showcase the city at its very best.
“Recognition like this strengthens what we offer visitors, encourages more people to stay longer and spend more locally, and supports the continued growth of the city’s tourism economy.”
Judges praised the Guildhall teams collaborative travel trade approach, accessibility and inclusion, regenerative tourism and community focus.
