Guests will be treated to a traditional afternoon tea in one of Coventry’s most atmospheric heritage settings, accompanied by live performances from Fourplay in the stunning Great Hall.
The vocal quartet are renowned for their a cappella renditions of wartime favourites including Sway, Mr Sandman, and We’ll Meet Again, performed with ukulele accompaniment.
To complete the experience, guests can choose from three ticket options: a standard Great Hall Afternoon Tea, or upgrades to include a glass of prosecco or champagne.
Period dress is encouraged but optional, and a bottle of bubbly will be awarded to the best-dressed guest, adding a fun and glamorous touch to the afternoon.
St Mary’s Guildhall, which has stood in the heart of Coventry for over 700 years, is no stranger to wartime resilience, and houses a plaque dedicated to the memory of Coventry firefighters who lost their lives during the Blitz.
Although much of the building miraculously survived the Blitz, its roof was badly damaged by an incendiary bomb.
The ornate ceiling has since been carefully restored to its former glory, allowing today’s visitors to experience the Guildhall’s grandeur as it once was.
Abi Moore, Heritage and Venue Manager at St Mary’s Guildhall, said: “We’re really looking forward to welcoming guests for what promises to be a joyful and nostalgic afternoon.
“The 1940s theme ties in beautifully with the historic setting of the Guildhall, and it’s a wonderful opportunity to come together, celebrate the era, and reflect on the 80th anniversary of the end of the second world war.
“Whether guests dress up or simply come to enjoy the music and afternoon tea, it’s set to be a memorable experience in one of Coventry’s most iconic buildings.”
