The award, part of VisitEngland’s annual Visitor Attraction Accolades, recognises the exceptional food and drink service provided at Tales of Tea – the Guildhall’s on-site restaurant – and follows a mystery visit and assessment through the Visitor Attraction Quality Scheme.
It comes after the Guildhall, operated by No Ordinary Hospitality in the heart of the city’s Cathedral Quarter, claimed the Bronze award for International Tourism at the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence and scored 92 per cent in its VisitEngland Quality Assured Visitor Attraction assessment.
The attraction showcases more than 700 years of history, including royal visits and English Civil War connections as well as the world-renowned Coventry Tapestry, while the Guildhall’s Tales of Tea restaurant has become a destination in its own right, offering brunch, lunch and afternoon tea in its atmospheric undercroft.
Abi Moore, Heritage and Venue Manager at St Mary’s Guildhall, one of just four venues in the West Midlands to scoop the accolade, said: "We’re thrilled to have received this recognition from VisitEngland.
