Cleyon’s achievement marks a significant step for the Coventry-based IT and telecoms solutions provider, which is dedicated to supporting young people into rewarding careers through apprenticeships.
“From the shy young man I interviewed over two years ago, Cleyon has thrived under the apprenticeship scheme and is now a vital part of our team,” said René Wheeler, Managing Director at SolaaS. “His humour keeps us and our customers entertained, and his work ethic and problem-solving skills are exceptional. We’re incredibly proud of what he’s achieved.”
Learning While Earning
During his apprenticeship with training provider TDM, Cleyon combined online learning with hands-on technical experience at SolaaS. His portfolio featured a variety of real-world IT projects, including a presentation on the company’s Ninja IT monitoring and ticketing platform – a highlight praised by examiners for its originality.
“Being able to work and study at the same time was a huge benefit,” said Cleyon. “The skills I learned on the course directly helped me in my day-to-day role, and the experience I gained at work helped with my studies too. I can’t recommend this route into a career highly enough.”
From Apprentice to First Line Support Engineer
Now fully qualified, Cleyon is the first point of contact for customers, resolving technical issues and building strong client relationships. He’s also known as “Agent Cleyon” in SolaaS’ social media videos, bringing a touch of personality and fun to the company’s online presence.
Championing Apprenticeships
René Wheeler believes Cleyon’s journey is a perfect example of how apprenticeships benefit both the individual and the employer.
“If you’re looking to grow your team, I highly recommend this route. Choosing the right apprenticeship partner and finding someone who fits your culture can be transformative. I’m always happy to share our experience.”
Looking Ahead
While Cleyon may progress to a Level 4 qualification in the future, for now, the team is celebrating his hard-earned success.
Congratulations, Agent Cleyon – mission accomplished!
