At this event she met Angus Longward, International Trade Adviser at the Department for Business and Trade. Angus suggested she connect with Michal Gierat, Managing Director of WM International - a Birmingham-based freight forwarding company and active member of the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce. Paulina connected with Michal on LinkedIn, followed the company page, and assumed the conversation would naturally develop over time.
She didn’t have to wait long.
Perfect timing - and a perfect fit
The very next day, Paulina received a message from Katrina Fleet, Marketing Specialist at WM International.
The company was actively looking for a partner to redesign their website - and after noticing Paulina had followed the page, Katrina explored SLT Media’s work and reached out immediately.“It was simply perfect timing,” Paulina recalls. “One introduction, one event, and suddenly businesses connected through two different Chambers were working together.”
Katrina adds:
“We couldn’t be happier with our new website. Working with Paulina and her team was incredibly smooth. They brought our vision to life and made the whole process enjoyable.”
As part of both the Birmingham division and the Future Faces young professionals community within the Greater Birmingham Chamber, Katrina credits the region’s networks for creating strong business relationships.
Transforming WM International’s digital presence
WM International wanted a website that matched the quality and professionalism of its freight forwarding services: modern, intuitive, well-structured and free from bugs or dead space.
SLT Media’s brief included:
- streamlining navigation
- improving user experience
- refreshing the visual design
- adding clear calls to action
- ensuring the site reflects the company’s operational excellence
The collaboration between Katrina and SLT Media’s team was key to achieving these goals. In his message to Paulina, Michal Gierat wrote:
“Thank you for the fantastic job you and your team did on the website. Your collaboration with Katrina really stood out. The new website really ticks the boxes.”
A West Midlands success story rooted in regional cooperation
What makes this partnership particularly meaningful is that it was formed across two Chamber areas - Coventry & Warwickshire and Greater Birmingham - linked through export support, networking and shared business ambitions.
For Paulina, the Exporting Starts Here programme was the catalyst that opened new doors and introduced her to regional international trade networks.
For WM International, bringing on SLT Media strengthened their digital presence in a way that supports their global logistics operations.
This collaboration demonstrates how the region’s business networks, advisers and Chambers help companies discover new opportunities simply by connecting the right people at the right moment.
Looking ahead
Both businesses view this as the beginning of a longer partnership and an example of what happens when companies actively participate in regional networks.
Paulina summarises it best:
“Thanks to one event, one introduction and two fantastic Chambers, we’ve delivered a project we’re genuinely proud of. It shows how powerful local connections can be when you’re open to collaboration.”
