At a special ground-breaking ceremony in Coleshill around 200 guests — including donors, civic leaders, pastors and long-time supporters — gathered to mark the start of building work. The milestone follows the successful completion of the project’s initial £40 million fundraising goal.
Eternal Wall is expected to welcome approximately 250,000 visitors annually when it opens in 2028.
“This is a day I’ve prayed for, dreamed of, and worked towards for over two decades,” said Richard Gamble, founder and visionary behind the project.
“Our hope is that Eternal Wall will stand as a living monument – a place where people can encounter stories of faith and be reminded that prayer still changes lives.”
Lord Robert Edmiston, whose company IM Group donated the land and contributed significantly to construction costs, took part in the groundbreaking ceremony.
CEO of Eternal Wall of Prayer Ian Bullock described the event as ‘an historic moment’.
“Today marks the beginning of something extraordinary — a project that will make hope visible for generations to come. Eternal Wall is a powerful demonstration of how faith continues to shape lives and communities.”
To complete the site — including a visitor centre, car park and landscaped grounds — Eternal Wall has launched a public crowdfunder to raise the remaining £5.7 million.
