In Warwickshire, the LSIP is being developed in partnership with Warwickshire County Council through the Warwickshire Skills Hub and is being delivered by Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce, with support from Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce.
It is building on the early success of the initiative which has helped Warwickshire to meet current and future skills needs in the region over the past two years by producing key priorities and actions for those responsible for training and education.
That includes the UK Government, Skills England, Warwickshire County Council, district and borough councils, colleges, independent training providers, adult education services, universities, chambers and other regional stakeholders.
Businesses are being invited to take part in the workshops that get underway at Ashorne Hill on Tuesday, February 3 and will be covering the topic of Leadership Development.
The second workshop is taking place at Warwick Racecourse on February 10 and will be covering Digital Skills, AI and Adoption of New Technologies, while the final workshop in this round is happening the following day at Weston Hall Hotel and will focus on the Workforce of the Future.
Raj Kaur, who runs the Warwickshire LSIP, said: “We’re encouraging businesses to tell us exactly what they need when it comes to skills, where there are gaps and what the future landscape looks like. Then, we want to know what they see as the best ways to deliver those skills into their businesses.
“That way, we can ensure the LSIP is focused on solutions and not just the gaps. It is a crucial piece of work.”
Fay Winterburn, head of employability and skills at the Warwickshire Skills Hub, added: “There is a huge amount of work taking place in Warwickshire that focusses on skills from the point of view of individuals and employers.
“The more businesses that get involved in these workshops, the more we can understand what the need is and what the right solutions look like.”
