The saving is the equivalent to driving 28 times around the world and is part of IPP’s strategy to cut carbon emissions and become net zero by 2045.
Andy Maddock, regional managing director for IPP UK&I, said: “Offering electric vehicle company cars to all staff who claim car allowance is just one of the ways we are working to drive sustainability at IPP.
“We additionally support these employees by covering the cost of installing EV home chargers if they switch to a fully electric company car. At our office five more charging units are also being installed to make the switch to EV even easier.”
IPP is part of Faber Group, and provides pallets built by responsibly sourced FSC/PEFC certified timber. It works to eliminate waste and reduce empty miles, while working collaboratively and being cost-effective.
The group’s most recent sustainability report found while work had increased, it had managed to reduce overall carbon emissions to a collective saving of more than 40,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions - the equivalent of 177 million miles of driving.
The three key areas it is working on to improve sustainability include responsible production and consumption, climate action and partnerships.
Priorities include reducing transport emissions via its pallets, reducing the footprint of its logistics operations by 30 per cent by 2030 and maximising the lifespan of its pallets to reduce production and consumption.
Andy added: “Our work to reduce carbon emissions and become net zero comes through collaboration, digitalisation and sustainable procurement.
“We continue on a local and international level looking at how we can improve efficiencies across our operations and reduce carbon emissions.
“Our work to make all company cars electric is just part of this, and something we are proud to have implemented and continue offering our team.”
IPP has a wealth of eco credentials, including a platinum Ecovadis sustainability rating, a Lean and Green two-star European rating and is a signatory to the United Nations Global Compact – a voluntary initiative to implement universal sustainability principles.
