Maria Holmes-Keeling, Fundraising Coordinator for George Eliot Hospital Charity, explained that the Breast Care Unit has seen significant growth in recent years, now caring for over 450 patients per month, alongside those attending through the National Screening Service. However, the current space is no longer adequate to meet patient needs.
The hospital now has the opportunity to relocate the unit to a brand new building on-site. Building work is expected to begin before the end of 2025, with the move planned for mid-2026. The new facility will provide more space and allow the team to acquire specialist breast examination equipment, reducing the need for referrals to UHCW.
Kathy expressed her excitement about the plans: “I’m delighted to support such an important development that will make a real difference to patients.”
In addition to the donation, ALPI UK will promote the George Eliot Hospital Charity in its Christmas cards to suppliers, encouraging further support during the festive season.
