Deeley Group, a construction and property development company based in Coventry, has donated £2,000 to support the organisation through its charity arm.
Clothing Coventry supports people in a range of challenging circumstances, including families fleeing domestic abuse, by providing essential items and allows people to visit its warehouse to choose the clothes they want.
The organisation has more than 60 volunteers and relies heavily on donations from businesses and the local community to continue its work.
Katie Wilson, CEO of Clothing Coventry, said: “This donation will contribute to saving our organisation. We have until September to raise £100,000 for the next year and we will have to close if we don’t reach that target.
“It’s really important that we have companies like Deeley Group that back us so we can keep our doors open to people when they need us.
“When a family is fleeing domestic abuse and has absolutely nothing, we need funds to be able to go out and buy items like underwear, as we won’t hand out second-hand underwear.
“To have cash available from a fantastic company like Deeley really helps us to do that, as well as covering the basics of keeping the lights on and supporting the day-to-day running of the charity.
“So many families are struggling who haven’t before. We have supported nearly 10,000 people in the last year, compared to nearly 6,000 the year before, so the need is growing.
“We regularly hear from people who say they don’t know where they would be without us, because there simply isn’t anywhere else for them to turn.”
The Deeley Group Charity organises fundraising events and initiatives throughout the year to support causes and charities in Coventry, Warwickshire and the wider West Midlands.
Eleanor Deeley, Joint Managing Director of Deeley Group, said: “Clothing Coventry is providing an essential service to families across the city and if we can play even a small part in supporting their work, we are proud to do so.
“We hope this donation will help Clothing Coventry continue its vital work and remain a lifeline for thousands of local people. We would encourage other businesses across Coventry to contact Katie and the team to see how they can offer their support.”
