The delightful combination will be served every Sunday in the Garden Room Restaurant to give guests the chance to enjoy the comforting flavours of a traditional Sunday lunch alongside the elegance of a classic afternoon tea.
The carefully curated menu blends savoury favourites with indulgent sweet treats, creating a dining experience perfect for a relaxed Sunday with family or friends at the 12th century hotel.
Guests can expect imaginative touches such as a duck fat roast potato truffle, Yorkshire pudding filled with roasted beef and creamed horseradish and a chicken and stuffing sandwich. The savoury selection is complemented by dishes including maple glazed chipolata, cauliflower cheese gratin and lemon and thyme roast chicken.
For those with a sweet tooth, the experience ends on a high note with classic desserts including sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce, apple crumble and freshly baked mature cheddar scones, all served with loose leaf teas.
Coombe Abbey Hotel’s traditional Afternoon Teas are also available from Wednesday to Sunday, including a selection of sandwiches, speciality teas, a slice of cake and fruit scones.
Ron Terry, Group Operations Director at No Ordinary Hospitality, which manages Coombe Abbey Hotel, said the concept brings together the best of both culinary experiences.
He said: “We wanted to create something that feels both familiar and a little bit special by bringing together the comfort of a traditional Sunday lunch with the unique experience of afternoon tea – which remains one of our most popular choices throughout the week.
“It’s a really enjoyable way to spend a Sunday, whether you’re catching up with friends or celebrating with family, and the response since its introduction has been fantastic.
“Afternoon tea continues to be hugely popular at Coombe Abbey Hotel where we serve over 40,000 each year so giving it a seasonal Sunday twist felt like a natural next step.”
Sunday Lunch Inspired Afternoon Tea will be served in four sittings between 12.15pm and 3pm, priced at £45 per person, with pre-booking recommended due to high demand.
