That theme was explored in Love Your Business Again an episode of FFS For Finances Sake, the podcast from Chadwick Accountants & Bookkeepers Ltd. In the episode, Managing Director and Chartered Accountant Rachael Chadwick-Harrison spoke candidly about why so many entrepreneurs reach a point of frustration and why it is often avoidable.
“People assume falling out of love with their business means something has gone wrong,” Rachael explained. “In reality, it usually means the business has evolved, but the way it’s being run hasn’t caught up.”
Throughout the episode, Rachael discussed the foundational conversations she regularly has with clients, helping them step back, examine every corner of their business, and understand the options available to them.
A recurring challenge is workload. As businesses grow, owners often find themselves spread across sales, operations, HR and finance, leaving little time for strategic thinking or the work they once enjoyed.
“That’s when resentment creeps in,” she said. “Not because the business is failing, but because no one has stopped to question whether the owner still needs to be doing everything themselves.”
The episode also addressed hesitation around hiring, with fear often delaying decisions and quietly limiting growth. Rachael stressed that hiring is rarely one-size-fits-all and that clarity, rather than urgency, leads to better outcomes.
Leadership was another key focus, particularly the misconception that it requires tight control. “These aren’t advanced concepts,” she noted. “They’re basic building blocks, but they’re often overlooked because people are too busy just getting through the day.”
The message was clear: business owners aren’t stuck, they often just haven’t been given the space to explore their options.
