This recognition is a powerful reflection of the incredible work our staff do every day.
Our integrated approach has truly set a benchmark for collaboration and impact. By bringing together employment, skills, and adult education support directly into the heart of our communities, we have created opportunities that matter for our residents.
Coventry Job Fest is only one example of this, with:
· Over 1,800 residents supported, and with 30% of those being 18–24-year-old residents
· 150 employers engaged, offering real pathways to jobs and skills
· 83% of attendees from a global majority background
· 380 attendees referred for skills support (117 to the Adult Education Service)
This is amplified by the work our Adult Education and Job Shop teams have accomplished, including:
· Developing varied and exciting pathways for residents and employers
· Strengthening partnerships, both internally and externally, including with UHCW for Health Support Worker Apprenticeships
· Delivering tailored learning routes and successful pilots like Job Rotation
· Offering cyclical onsite training at the Job Shop and creating new pathways such as “Sprint Ahead”
Congratulations also to Debbie Owen, whose creativity and innovative approach led to the creation of a tailored pre-employment programme for the care sector, encouraging residents to develop their skills and secure apprenticeships and employment. Her determination and resourcefulness have resulted in over 40 residents securing permanent employment within the NHS, in roles ranging from entry-level to highly skilled positions, including a doctor newly arrived in the UK.
