The UK’s only dedicated pool, spa and water leisure exhibition will celebrate its 30th anniversary with an extended programme that is free to attend and will feature talks on extreme hot and cold-water temperatures.
The first talk will focus on the use of hot tubs to improve adult health while the second will explore the health and wellbeing benefits of ice baths and cold plunges. Both will take place in Seminar Arena 1 on day three of the event.
Some of the sector’s best-known suppliers and manufacturers will display the latest swimming pools, hot tubs, saunas, ice baths, enclosures, pergolas, steam rooms, hydrotherapy, wellness products and ancillary equipment - such as lighting, energy efficient heating systems, ventilation and chemicals - at the show. Some of the displays will be water-filled and operational.
Derbyshire-based hot tub and wellness manufacturer Superior Wellness will be among the many companies exhibiting. Chief Executive Rob Carlin conducted a mini-investigation into ice baths in which he bathed in a chill tub every morning for 30 days consecutively.
Rob found it improved his wellbeing, mental health and even his sleep pattern. “I noticed that my energy levels and recovery improved, I felt happier and I was sleeping better too,” he said.
“Physically, I felt less stiff, more alert and more energised overall. Mentally, there was a noticeable improvement in clarity and calm - it forces you to be present and control your breathing.
“By the end of the study my circulation had definitely improved. I also felt it improved my mental health too. The biggest impact for me was mindset. It created mental toughness and momentum that carried through both work and personal life.”
In addition to anecdotal evidence, the study was backed up by physiological tests undertaken by Birmingham health consultants TransformNow which found measurable improvements in Rob’s recovery and resilience markers and a noticeable drop in his inflammation levels.
Rob said SPATEX was a ‘hugely important’ event for Superior Wellness to attend because ‘it brings the entire industry together’.
“It’s a chance to showcase innovation, but also to listen, learn and have meaningful conversations,” he said. “What makes it special is the quality of the audience. Retailers, installers and professionals who genuinely care about standards, education and the future of wellness. Being part of that environment is invaluable.”
Event organiser Michele Bridle said SPATEX had seen ‘unprecedented demand from exhibitors’ for the 30th edition of the show which she said would be ‘the biggest and boldest event yet’.
“We’ll have exhibitors joining us from across the UK and around the world,” she said. “And for visitors there will be an incredible range of eye-catching displays.
“We’re proud to have represented the industry for three decades and this is set to be the perfect way to mark that milestone in style.”
Jenni Ford, Director of Sales and Marketing at Coventry Building Society Arena, said: “It’s great to see, and be able to support, the continued growth and expansion of SPATEX after more than a decade at the venue.
“Coventry really does become the centre of the water leisure world for three days of the year and we’re excited to help SPATEX celebrate its 30th anniversary at the Arena.”
