RocketGX Strengthens European Expansion Strategy with Exporting Support

RocketGX Limited, a Birmingham-based leader in smart building technology solutions, is accelerating its international growth plans with invaluable support from a regional Export Programme.

With solid foundations already laid for global expansion, RocketGX is now enhancing its European market strategy through the Business Growth West Midlands Exporting Support Programme.

RocketGX Strengthens European Expansion Strategy with Exporting Support

The company has been selling internationally for some time, using a hands-off approach through agents, allowing them to focus on product development. However, RocketGX is now ready to take greater control of its global growth, seeking to gain direct market insights, build stronger customer relationships, and shape how and where its solutions are sold.

Founded by a team of technology pioneers, RocketGX develops advanced interfaces that integrate diverse technologies into existing Building Management Systems (BMS) and Building Automation Systems (BAS). Their unique ability to retrofit smart solutions into older buildings positions them well to meet the increasing global demand for energy efficiency and connected infrastructure.

Although Edgbaston-based RocketGX had already identified global expansion as a key growth pillar, the Business Growth West Midlands Exporting Support Programme brought valuable, market-specific insights to refine their European entry strategy. Working with an international trade advisor, the company used the 6-Stage International Export Strategy Framework to move from early exploration to a more structured, strategic approach.

James Elvins, Founder of RocketGX, explained:

“Our technology has always had strong global potential, and we’d already made progress internationally through agent-based sales. But we wanted to go further, building a more hands-on, direct presence that allows us to learn from customers and shape our own growth. Engaging with the Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce helped us gain the clarity and momentum to make that shift.”

Following initial consultations, Germany was identified as a priority market, thanks to its strong focus on manufacturing, infrastructure upgrades, and energy-efficient retrofits. The advisor highlighted major trade events, including BAU Munich, as key platforms for engagement.

Avalon Maison, an international trade advisor from the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce, noted:

“Germany represents a major opportunity for RocketGX, particularly given its focus on sustainable smart buildings. We worked closely to identify strategic events like BAU Munich and supported RocketGX in building the right industry connections and IP protections needed for long-term success.”

RocketGX took the recommendation on board and has already begun actively participating in major industry events such as BAU Munich and the Sustainable Building Conference, where they are engaging directly with system integrators, technology partners, and potential clients. At the same time, they are working closely with IP experts to protect their innovations internationally, a critical foundation for sustainable global expansion.

Thanks to this strategic approach and active participation in the Export Programme, RocketGX has moved from Stage 3: First Export Steps to Stage 4: Export Growth within the 6-Stage International Export Strategy Framework. This marks a key transition as the company moves from indirect international sales to a more direct, scalable model, built on deeper market understanding and stronger global presence.

James Elvins added:

“The Export Programme helped us crystallise our European strategy at exactly the right time. We now have a clearer roadmap for growth, a sharper understanding of our international IP strategy, and the tools to build stronger global partnerships. We’re excited for what’s next.”

With its enhanced export strategy in place, RocketGX is actively pursuing new European opportunities, starting with Germany, and is well on its way to bringing its cutting-edge smart building solutions to a global audience.
