LSIP / LSIF Explained
What is LSIF?
The Local Skills Improvement Fund (LSIF) supports delivery of LSIP priorities by investing in further education providers and partnerships. It enables organisations to:
- Address key skills gaps
- Invest in facilities and equipment
- Strengthen employer-led training
- Support innovation in teaching and workforce development
Why it matters
Together, LSIPs and LSIF ensure skills provision is:
- Employer-led
- Locally relevant
- Aligned to economic growth
The West Midlands and Warwickshire LSIF programme ran from November 2023 to March 2025, backed by £10.3 million from the Department for Education.
It funded new training facilities, equipment and programmes in digital, engineering, construction and green skills, addressing the priorities set out in the West Midlands and Warwickshire Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP).
