Main duties and responsibilities
Design and deliver learning in Functional Skills to groups of learners in line with National Standards (Maths and English) at levels 1 and 2.
Role and responsibilities:
- Carry out individual diagnostic assessments of individual learning needs.
- Develop personal learning plans based on diagnostic assessment results.
- Plan and design curriculum, including schemes of work and lesson plans.
- Develop training resources and delivery materials (presentations, handouts, interactive activities and exercises).
- Deploy technology to best effect in the design and delivery of learning.
- Deliver learning and development that is engaging, motivating and informative in a group classroom setting and on a one to one basis.
- Prepare learners for awarding body tests.
- Provide additional learning support in the work place on a one to one basis.
- Ensure learners’ attendance and punctuality are accurately recorded.
- Evaluate the progress of individual learners.
- Prepare the learning environment and resources.
- Provide one to one tutorials to support learners’ progression.
- Support and coach learners to successful completion.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of curriculum content and course outcomes.
- Liaise with employers, learners and examining bodies.
- Ensure all reasonable steps are taken regarding welfare, safety and inclusion.
- Work as part of a team of Trainers.
Person Specification:
- Understanding of national standards in maths and/or English.
- Recognised teaching qualification, PGCE; DTLL (Desirable).
- Experience of developing learners’ Functional Skills in a vocational setting.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Awareness of training industry and current best practice.
- Self-motivated and committed to achieving targets to a high level of quality and customer service.
- Well organised, able to plan workload and maintain accurate records.
- Driving licence and access to vehicle on a daily basis.
- IT skills and technology to support learning and development.
Employment is conditional upon a satisfactory Enhanced DBS disclosure.
