Sent to Coventry has been made by Touchtype Films and Ascension Dance and charts the arrival of an ‘outsider’ to the city through dance.

It stars Ben Morley, Charlotte Dodd and Ashley Jordan and has been directed by Jamie Sergeant of Touchtype Films. It sees the three main characters dancing through iconic locations in the city – from the Ricoh Arena through to Coventry Cathedral.

The film, which is accompanied by an original soundtrack by local composer Tom Haines, is now available to view on YouTube at https://youtu.be/Aqpf6SlYUvg. It was shot by cameraman Jon Randle.

The six minute piece has been supported by an arts grant through Coventry City Council and has received further funding and help from Coventry City of Culture Trust – the organisation behind the bid to be UK City of Culture in 2021.

Laura McMillan, manager of Coventry City of Culture Trust, said: “We are very proud to have supported this wonderful film about the city.

“It brings together two small, independent, creative companies and shows off the city’s heritage and some of its more modern landmarks.

“It’s a film everyone in the city will want to view as they will see places that are very familiar and also show off parts of Coventry that we all know but sheds a new light on them.

“It has its own beautifully composed soundtrack and I am thrilled that it is now available for everyone in the city to enjoy.”

Jamie, who has been working on the film for six months, added: “I'm incredibly proud of what Touchtype, Ascension Dance and everyone who has worked on the project has achieved.

“We hope that the film can help current and future residents, and prospective tourists see the beauty of Coventry.

“Everyone who has worked on 'Sent To Coventry' is incredibly proud of their connection to the city and I hope that comes across in the finished film.”

Coventry City Council, The University of Warwick, and Coventry University are Principal Partners of the bid to be UK City of Culture 2021 and are providing significant support. The Ricoh Arena is Bid Sponsor while Jaguar Land Rover, Adient, Friargate, Coventry Building Society, the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce, Birmingham Airport, PET-Xi, SCC (Specialist Computer Centres), Pertemps, and CEF (City Electrical Factors) are also Bid Development Sponsors.
