However, small businesses stretch beyond those you see on the high street and, as we know only too well, there are thousands of small firms across our patch operating in a range of sectors who all contribute a huge amount to the regional economy.
The Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce provides a wide range of support to start-up and small companies across the region – some of which is available to retailers and some that is tailored towards more business to business clients.
Whether you are a start-up or looking to take that next step towards growth, there may be a support programme that can help your business to achieve greater success and I’d urge you to contact the team to find out if you are eligible for help now or in the future.
For example, we have a new retail programme starting in the New Year where we will cover how to increase your footfall to your business with some unique workshops available.
Many of our programmes offer a range of help – from face to face mentoring through to workshops on a host of topics crucial to the success of any business, from planning to social media marketing.
The support goes further than that – it brings like-minded businesses together to network and, very often, they become customers of one another and they build-up a very strong network of contacts in their area.
The biggest element I believe that smaller businesses take away from the support we give is to ensure they have a plan of action and that they can stick to it and benchmark themselves against it.
And my advice to everyone else would be to see what local businesses operate in your area – both on the high street and in other sectors – and to use their services wherever possible.
A small business is for life…not just this Saturday!
