On May 29th, leading Leamington law firm Wright Hassall will welcome business leaders, IT and security staff and HR professionals to its Olympus Avenue offices for a panel session discussing the impact of GDPR 12 months on.
Speakers on the panel include the firm’s Privacy and Data Protection specialist Claire Halle-Smith, Wasps’ Data Protection Officer John Parker, iStorm Solutions Principal Consultant Richard Merrygold and Ian McKinney, Senior Account Executive at Gallagher Insurance.
Halle-Smith, a Senior Associate at Wright Hassall, said: “The GDPR obviously came into force with a lot of fanfare and confusion in some quarters.
“Its implementation added up to quite a large amount of work for some companies but it was something that needed to happen.
“We are looking to identify key messages for business around lessons learned over the last 12 months, how businesses can mitigate risk through effective insurance, business management and internal procedure and policies.
“Specifically we will look at the new challenges faced by Data Protection Officers, the increasing number of Subject Access Requests, the Information Commissioner’s Office approach to fines and more.
“We have brought together an excellent panel, offering a variety of insights into the impact of GDPR one year on from its implementation.”
The event will start at 7:30am for arrival and breakfast, with the panel session and a Q&A following that, with proceedings coming to a close at 9:30am.
There will also be an opportunity to take part in a charity raffle for a signed Wasps shirt, with proceeds going to the Wright Hassall Charitable Trust.
The seminar is the first in a series of four organised by Wright Hassall this year covering key business topics, with more details on future events to be revealed soon.
