Raising Christmas cheer for children's charity

Two of Coventry’s most popular choirs and orchestras are celebrating the festive season of goodwill by helping to raise money for a good cause.

Coventry Cathedral Chorus and the Coventry and Warwickshire Youth Orchestra will be performing to help Coventry and Warwickshire Business Board raise money for the NSPCC Boole House with two charity Christmas concerts at Coventry Cathedral on Saturday, December 15.

The Coventry and Warwickshire Business Board host regular events to raise money for the NSPCC and are putting on two concerts following the popularity of last year’s event, with each event this year set to attract large crowds.

The day will be packed-full of family festive fun and the concerts, which are running from 2:30-4:30pm and 6:00-8:00pm, will feature the Jaguar Land Rover Brass Band playing their seasonal sounds to get guests in the Christmas spirit.

The Brass Band will also be joined in the evening by the Eastern Green Junior School Choir, as well as carollers from the Crescent School Rugby, who will be continuing the Christmas sing-a-long with festive performances.

Both events, which are sponsored by JLR, Lear Corporations, Coventry Telegraph and Emmersons the Printers of Kenilworth, will also feature the impressive vocals of the Coventry Cathedral choir to bring the festive cheer to the evening.

The Business Board has raised almost £3 million over the last 21 years to help protect and support vulnerable children across Coventry and Warwickshire.

Hamilton Bland, Owner of Charity Fundraising Auctions who help to organise the event, said: “This is our fourth year of the carol concerts to raise money for Boole House and this year we’re expecting it to be our biggest event yet!

“With two different concerts booked in, we’re hoping to get as many people involved as possible to enjoy an impressive festive afternoon whilst also raising money for vulnerable young people.

“I’ve helped to support the charity for almost 20 years now and to be able to continue supporting the important work they do through the wide range of fundraising events we provide is a real privilege.

“We hope to see lots of people getting into the Christmas spirit and helping us to raise money for this important charity at the time of year when vulnerable people need help the most.”

Paul Leddington Wright, musical director of the concert, said: “We’re thrilled to be able to continue our “new tradition” and host another Christmas concert at Coventry Cathedral, supported by Coventry and Warwickshire Business Board.

“This is now our fourth year of spreading Christmas cheer and raising money for young people in need across the region and we are honoured to be able to support the Business Board in raising such large sums of money for those who need it the most during the Christmas period.”

Tickets for the event are priced at £15 for adults, £7.50 for children and students and £13 for concessions. Family tickets are also available, priced at £40.

Tickets are available in advance from www.ticketweb.co.uk. Alternatively, they can be purchased by ringing 0844 477 1000.
