Pooling Partners, whose UK headquarters is based in Coventry, has a proud track record of promoting re-use of its products and waging war on waste.
Now Europe’s top pooler and producer of reusable wooden pallets and boxes is taking it a step further by issuing 250 staff and customers with reusable drinking mugs, complete with company logo and the slogan ‘Refill not Landfill.’
What’s more, they’ve challenged the recipients to go out and take ‘mug-shots’ of themselves in the most unlikely places they can come up with.
Pooling Partners director Phil Storer explained with a smile: “We’ve told them the world’s their palette, so go and create something unique and original.
“It’s a bit of fun and I can’t wait to see the photos as they come in - I can only imagine what they’ll come up with.
“There’s a very serious underlying message, though, and that’s just how many coffee cups from High Street shops end up in landfill because they can’t be reused or recycled.
“The statistics are very unpalatable, which is why we’ve taken action and bought these new mugs which can be used over and over again. We really hope a lot of other firms and people in general will follow our lead.”
Pooling Partners is proud of its long track record in proving firms can still consider the environment while forging ahead as a business.
After all they have a turnover of more than £300 million and employ more than 800 staff throughout Europe.
UK and Ireland boss Storer, who coined the phrase ECOnomics to describe the recovery and continual re-use of durable pallets and boxes, added: “Recycling and cutting down on waste has always been at the forefront of what we do.
“We are always promoting recovery and the continual re-use of pallets and boxes using efficient and sustainable pooling systems.
“What’s more, our production facilities source from sustainable forests as they produce and repair more than 20 million pallets and boxes a year. However, sustainability doesn’t always have to be on a grand scale – we’re starting small with our coffee cups, but who knows where it could lead?”
