The role would involve attendance at 6 school meetings a year, 3 for Resource Management and 3 for Performance and Standards, meetings last 2 hours and would require approximately a further 2 hours of preparation beforehand to read papers and note questions they would like to raise.
In addition, if members have the time and interest, both schools belong to the Affinity Federation which is a hard federation of 2 schools, the schools report to the Federation Board which is made up of representatives from the school Boards, this entails another 3 meetings a year along same time commitment as above.
Whitmore Park Primary School would benefit from members with skills in property and estates management; HR policy and employment legislation; or safeguarding. We are also looking to recruit a Local Authority governor, so we would welcome a local councillor who has the time to give.
No previous experience in a Governance role is necessary as we have a small budget to fund training, and induction training would be provided alongside a bespoke programme to meet the needs of the new member.
