“On the 29th March 2019 the UK will officially leave the EU. This will be followed by a transition or ‘implementation’ phase to the 31st December 2020 (based on the current timetable). Until then, the Coventry & Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce will be working hard to help members prepare for Brexit and to lobby stakeholders on their behalf.
Brexit will affect different regions of the UK in very different ways and for Coventry and Warwickshire leaving the EU poses a unique set of risks and opportunities.
The decisions that are made over the next few years concerning trade, the customs union, EU workers rights, movement of people and the governments post-Brexit approach to regional development will affect the prosperity of Coventry & Warwickshire for many years to come and we must push for deals that protect trade, investment and jobs in our region. But whatever outcome we face businesses must do all they can to plan for Brexit and understand the risks and opportunities that lie ahead.
The Chamber has therefore produced a Brexit Tool Kit to help companies in our area understand the key issues and scenario plan for March 2019 and beyond.
The tool kit can be viewed on our website here and we have produced a ‘Business Brexit Checklist’ to help companies with their planning. The checklist covers key areas such as workforce and skills, customs, trade tariffs and origin rules and it can be downloaded here.
The Chamber has been offering practical advice and support to businesses since the referendum vote and we will continue to do so over the coming months and years. If any businesses in our areas have particular concerns or questions I encourage them to get in touch with the Chamber on 02476654321 or [email protected] “
